Thank you for the opportunity to not only answer your questions, but to explain my answers! A good way to find more about me is to go to my website, janis4weberschoolboard.com. ( My contact information is also provided there.) I consider my greatest strength to be that for years, I have sat on "both sides of the desk". I am seasoned!! I have taught in public schools in MN, MI, CA, and UT. I am a committed parent of 6 and grandparent of a large crowd! I know what it is like to work to meet requirements in the classroom and to follow up with children at home. My next greatest strength is my deep desire for parents, teachers, and administrators to WORK TOGETHER for the benefit of our students. The present environment can cause us to polarize, take sides, be divisive! None of that will help our students. In my opinion, 99.9% of teachers and parents in WSD are the very best people possible. We must capitalize on that fact and not let outside influences stand in the way of our doing what is best for our kids. With that said, we must not be NAIVE about those outside influences!!! We must understand that powers outside WSD would be happy to transform our district along their lines and not according to our desires. We must be vigilante and that has to do with all of us working together and being sensitive to incidents, in detail. If I am re-elected to Weber School Board #6 I will continue as I have done (you can ask my board colleagues) to make sure that all voices will be acknowledged and responded to. EVERYONE deserves that opportunity and I will make sure they have it! We all benefit, but mostly our students will reap the rewards in an excellent educational environment. Again, thank you !
